2007-May-26 WC Planning Meeting
Present: George, Paul, Jan, Sherryll, Doug, Philip, Gillian, Robert, Diane, Anke (minutes)
1. Phoning.
All in all 13-odd people have said they may come to the June 8th information meeting. Some more phoning will be done this week.
The “maybe’s” will be called a week before the June 8th meeting; the “yes’s” should be reminded 2 or 3 days before June 8th, preferably by the same person who called them initially.
Diane will contact a person on Jan’s list about wheelchair particulars.
2. Venue
Anke paid a $50 deposit to Fairfield New Horizons for the June 23rd public meeting.
A $100 honorarium will be paid to the Quakers for the use of their meeting house on Friday June 22nd evening and June 23rd all day.
3. June 8th information meeting preparations:
- Philip will pass the 12 Wisdom Council principles and the poker chips to Anke.
- Brigit will be asked to either facilitate or be spotter for people with questions; George is also willing to do either.
- Anke and Sherryll will staff the information table with the list of interested random invitees, the poker chips, the “hat” and the door prize tickets.
- Paul will be the go-for.
- several people offered to bring cookies or squares, and Jan will look for the tea at home.
- the Statement of the last Wisdom Council should not be posted so as not to influence the new Wisdom Council.
- copies of the 2-sided hand-out “power from the people praised”, with the TC article with Gillian’s and Simon’s photo on the back will be available.
4. Media
A “point person” person is needed so that we don’t duplicate our efforts. Who is available to be interviewed by media? Diane volunteers, Brigit’s name is offered as a possibility.
Philip leaves town for 6 weeks starting June 1st. Caspar will be away from June 15th on. George is away from June 4th – 6th, and also June 11th and 12th . Dan won’t be available until after June 16th

- Almanac, the noon show out of Vancouver
CFUV – someone to contact Janine Bandcroft;
,, ,, ,, Forever Young, the Thurs. p.m. seniors program;

The video from the last public meeting was edited to a 3-minute DVD that can be sent to TV media along with a press release . George will ask the videographer to fix the glitches.
TV channels’ assignment editors will send reporters to events that contain these 3 elements: Action, Conflict, Emotion. There’s little interest in “talking heads”. How can we attract TV media?
Dan put together a list of Community Associations.Jan offers to be the “point person” for contacting these c.a.’s. Gillian and Diane will talk to c.a.’s to publicize the public meeting.
5. Postering
Posters for the June 23rd public meeting will be available at our next meeting (June 2nd) and at the June 8th information meeting.
6. Metchosin Farmers Market
David Stott who sat on the last Wisdom Council is working on food security in the western communities. He has a booth at the Metchosin Farmers Market. All are encouraged to stop by there to support David’s work.

As the Quaker Meeting House is not available to us for our June 2nd and June 9th meetings, the location is going to be either Camosun College, OR the Fernwood Community Centre multi-purpose room, 1240 Gladstone Ave., ground floor.
